Christabel Lou "Chris" Maring

Christabel Lou "Chris" Maring, 80, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Nevada, to Oscar Dean Huston and Bertie Myers Huston. She married Vincent Maring on April 9, 1948, in Nevada. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2009.

Chris was born and reared in Nevada and spent her entire life here. She worked for many years as a printer and library assistant at Cottey College and later at the Vo-Tech School. Chris also worked for a time at Richardsons's Office Supply. She was a member of the Diana's MFWC, and the Nevada Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and also collected cabbage patch dolls. Chris was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother to her three sons.

Survivors include her three sons, Kevin Maring and his wife Shellie, Stillwell, Kan., Kyle Maring, Henderson, Nev., and Kim Maring Charleston, W.V.; and one sister, Jerry Scott, Henderson, Nev. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Huston and Leon Huston.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Vernon County Historical Society or the Vernon County Senior Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
