Sylvia June Colvin

Sylvia June Colvin, 81, of Nevada, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Smithville, Mo. She was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Idabel, Okla., to Herman Walter Hopkins and Edith Finney Hopkins. She married Herman "Bud" Colvin in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2008.

Sylvia grew up in Oklahoma and Arizona and graduated from high school in Phoenix. She came to Nevada in 1974 from Oregon. Sylvia worked with her husband in the upholstery business for many years. She was a member of the Maranatha Christian Fellowship in Nevada.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Colvin, Phoenix, Ariz., and Monty Colvin, Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Mike Hutchens officiating. Interment will be in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
