Lockwood woman killed in car crash

A 57-year-old Lockwood woman, Rita Murray, died on the way to St. John's hospital in Springfield, Sunday afternoon, following an accident on Highway 32, 4 miles south of El Dorado Springs, according to a report from Corporal Mitch Bush, Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Three others were injured in the accident, which occurred at 1:30 p.m., when the 1998 Ford Escort Murray was driving crossed the centerline and struck a 1990 Lexus driven by Robert Hutchison, 52, El Dorado Springs, the report said. Hutchison and two children, Corie and Grant Hutchison were transported to Cedar County Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Robert Hutchison was listed as having suffered serious injuries; the others had suffered moderate injuries.

Bush reported Murray died while being transported via air ambulance and the helicopter landed in Vernon County and Coroner David Ferry responded to the scene and pronounced Murray dead at 4:30 p.m. The body was taken to the Vernon County Coroner's Office and the next of kin notified.

In another crash, two El Dorado Springs 16-year-olds were injured when the 1993 Chevrolet one of them was driving went off the road and struck a culvert Friday. The accident occurred on Route B, 5 miles east of Jerico Springs at 12:40 a.m. Chase Brown and Shawn Fishburn were taken to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs with moderate injuries.

In an unrelated incident. an 18-year-old Adrian woman suffered moderate injures in an accident 4 miles south of Horton on Route O Friday morning.

According to an MSHP report, Courtney Davis was driving a 1995 Mazda when it ran off the road, she overcorrected and again ran off the road, this time overturning the car. Davis went to Nevada Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.
