Thomas Lee Davis, 70, of Nevada, formerly of Englevale, Kan., died at 1:57 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at K.U. Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Davis was born on Oct. 28, 1939, at Pittsburg, Kans, the son of Thomas and Hazel Janes Davis. Tom was reared in Englevale and attended Englevale and Arma grade schools. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1957. He was a star basketball player.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 13 years as a Chief Petty Officer who protectedthe skies as an air traffic controller until 1981 and then retired from the United States Postal Service in 1996. Tom married Carol Morris on Jan. 20, 1998, at Warsaw, Mo. Carol survives of the home.

Survivors inclde his loving wife, Carol of the home; sons Michael Davis and his wife Erin, of Dallas, Texas, David Davis, of O'Fallon, Mo.; daughters, Joyce Westrich and her husband John, of Wildwood, Mo, and tamara Hembrough and her husband Brian, of O'Fallon, Mo.; six beautiful grandchildren, Jacob, Aimee, Tommy, Chandler, Nate, and Braden; sister Carol Mullen and her husband Joseph, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at the Sheffield Cemetery near Arcadia with marcia Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Sundayy at the Bedene Funeral Home, in Arma.
