Kimberly Lynn Shutters, age, 44, of Sheldon, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar following a short illness. She was born on Dec. 3, 1964, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Lester A. Thurston and Leah Pearline Edens Thurston. On Sept. 20, 2003, Kim was married to Frank L. Shutters and he survives of the home in Sheldon.

Kim grew up in Fort Scott, and graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1983. Kim was employed by several Fort Scott businesses including Ennis Business Forms, Great West Insurance, Med Plans, and in Lamar for Dr. Timothy Sprenkle, and was recently working for First Source in Fort Scott. She has lived for the past eight years in Sheldon.

Survivors in addition to her husband Frank include three children, Savannah Gillis of Parsons, Kan., Travis Gillis and Ethan Gillis of the home in Sheldon; three brothers, Gary Thurston, Farlington, Kan., David Thurston, Deerfield, Mo., and Randy Thurston of Fulton, Kan.; two sisters, Shirley Goltra, Fort Scott, and Brenda Brown of Kansas City, Mo. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her many friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with pastor Michael Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Cemetery, Lamar, Mo. Friends may call from 8 a.m., on Tuesday, until the hour of service on Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Those who wish may contribute in Kimberly's memory to a scholarship fund for her children in care of Lamar Bank & Trust, Lamar, Mo.
