Beverly Belle McCullough, 88, Nevada, formerly of Groton, S.D., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born on Sept. 20, 1921, near Verdon, S.D., to Deno Erdmann and Mabel Smith Erdmann. Beverly was united in marriage with Verne McCullough on Nov. 21, 1939, at the Ferney Erdmann farm. The couple made their home on a farm near Claremont for many years and later moved to Groton in 1979. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage.

Beverly was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Groton and served on the Altar Guild and many committees. She was a true "farmer's wife" -- up early in the morning and always preparing the next meal. She was a pristine housekeeper and the queen of the perfect yard. She was a member of the Groton American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. Beverly also volunteered weekly at the Groton Nursing Home, reading to the residents.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her three sons, Greg and Sue Ann McCullough, Lidgerwood, N.D., David and Patsy McCullough, Nevada, and Gene and Georgia McCullough, Rice Lake, Wis.; six grandchildren, Kevin McCullough, Brenda McCullough Clark, Elizabeth McCullough Stratman, Jennifer McCullough Westphal, Jason McCullough, Marcy McCullough Rieder; and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband Verne; her parents, and two brothers.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 23, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton, S.D., with the Rev. Craig Grams officiating. Interment was in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton, S.D.

The family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or the hospice of your choice.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
