Evelyn N. Shutters

Evelyn N. Shutters, 86, formerly of Milo, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Truman Healthcare and Rehab in Lamar. She was born June 5, 1923, in Milo, to William Ison Garrett and Bertha Bell Martin Garrett. She was married to Frank Lowell Shutters on April 12, 1940, in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1984.

Evelyn was born and reared in Milo. She attended Milo school through the eighth grade. She worked at Nelly Don in Nevada for many years. She later provided in-home healthcare for the elderly in the Nevada area. Her last employment was at Joe Clark Residential Care Center, until her retirement in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Nadine Baldwin, Walker, and Donnell Shutters, Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Ronnie Shutters, Schell City; three grandchildren, Frank Shutters, Sheldon, Roy Baldwin, Walker, and Steven Shutters; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Smith, North Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home.
