Council to review contract with city manager tonight

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

The Nevada City Council will have a short agenda for tonight's meeting, including the first reading of an employment contract with John Kehrman, Nevada's new city manager. Kehrman will start work in Nevada on March 1.

Other items on the council's agenda include the first readings of two proposed ordinances: a special ordinance approving a change order for the new community center involving additional electrical outlets in the game room and covers for some of the sprinkler heads in the building, and a special ordinance approving the transfer of the city's Global Software license to the Western Missouri 9-1-1 Dispatch Center.

The council will also be voting on a resolution to apply for a federal grant to help pay for extending the city's fiber optic network.

The council will also be considering the second reading of an ordinance approving a contract with Waste Corporation of America for trash service and the second reading of a special ordinance amending the 2010 city budget.

Other issue before the council tonight include the purchase of used parts for the city's road grader and proclamations for "Building Character in Youth" and Catholic Schools Week.
