Carolyn Sue Cliffman

Carolyn Sue Cliffman, 67, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at her home in Sheldon following a short illness. She was born on April 27, 1942, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Wayne Caldwell Johnston and Margaret Lucille Wirt Johnston. She married Vernon R. Cliffman on Jan.27, 1962, in Arcadia, Kan., and he survives of the home.

She was reared on a farm near rural Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1960. She has been employed by Key Industries in Fort Scott, for 20 years, and also served as part-time secretary at Sheldon school. She was an avid book reader and loved attending all of her grandchildren's school events. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include her husband Vernon Cliffman of the home; four children, Sue Rayburn and her husband Mike, Liberal, Mo., Greg Cliffman and his wife Traci, Nevada, John Scot Ciffman and his wife Shezan, Webb City, Mo., Kerri Beshore and her husband Jeff, Lamar, Mo.; grandchildren, Michael, Myles, and Tabby Rayburn, Kelci, and Kyler Cliffman, Shayla Cliffman, Jared, Kara, and Joel Beshore; one great-grandson, Brock Marshall Rayburn; her mother Lucille Johnston, Liberal; two brothers Larry Johnston and his wife Kathryn, Liberal, and Rick Johnston, Bronaugh, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Vi Titus, Clinton, Mo. She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment followed in Avola Cemetery near Sheldon, Mo. The family received friends from 6-7 Sunday, at the funeral home.
