Voters elect area school board members

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Results are in for area school districts with residents in more than one county. Some school district elections require combining the results from different counties as some districts cross county lines. El Dorado Springs R-2, Rich Hill R-4, and Hume R-8 districts all fall into that category.

From Vernon County results the Hume School Board three-year term would appear to have gone to Melissa Patton and Stephen Yarick, who both received 17 votes in Vernon County. However, the Bates County results sent Ralph Franklin and Stephen Yarick to the board. Franklin received only 15 votes in Vernon County but led the others in Bates County with 88 votes. Yarick received 85 Bates County votes and Patton 68 votes.

In Hume the seat for the two-year term went to Joshua C. Rogers with a total of 118 votes, 102 votes from Bates County, 16 votes from Vernon County. David Morrison received a total of 43 votes, 31 votes from Bates County and 12 votes from Vernon County.

Greg Beydler received 385 votes from Cedar County and 35 votes from Vernon County for a total of 420 votes. The other candidates received the following votes: Dennis Carl Floyd - 233 votes Cedar County, 38 votes Vernon County, 271 votes total; Dale Bud McConnaughey - 181 votes Cedar County, 21 votes Vernon County, 202 votes total; Wayne Yakel - 224 votes Cedar County, 44 votes Vernon County, 268 votes total; Donnie Collins - 140 votes Cedar County, 19 votes Vernon County, 159 votes total.
