Tiger golfers win home match

On a cloudy, but otherwise fair weather day, the Nevada Tigers golf team made their return to the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course Monday.

In their first quad match of the year, the Tigers hosted the Mustangs of McDonald County, the Bulldogs of El Dorado Springs and El Dorado Christian High School. The Tigers tied for the overall best team score of the day with McDonald County at 192. El Dorado Springs took third at 196, followed by El Dorado Christian at 288.

The match was held on the par-36 back nine and Nevada's Alex Christensen posted the best individual score of the day as he turned in a 3-over 39 in what Tigers head coach Brian Leonard called "an outstanding round." That score was three strokes better than the second best individual total of 42, put up by McDonald County's Levi Stone.

Justin Carter posted the second best score of the day for the Tigers as he finished at 47, followed closely by Joseph Ferry at 48. Taylor Handly carded a 58, while Colby Moorhouse rounded out the varsity order for the Tigers at 61.

The next outing for the Tigers is scheduled for the Tigers is scheduled for Friday as they are set to head to the Butler Invitational, weather permitting. Should weather cancel that outing, the Tigers will have to wait to take to the course again until May 3, when they begin the Class 3, District 7 tournament at Adams Pointe Golf Course in Blue Springs, Mo.
