Floreine Florella Reed Moore

Floreine Florella Reed Moore, 95, Bedford, Texas, formerly of Nevada, passed away on May 10, at Baylor Grapevine Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. She was born in Carmen, Okla., to Mary Elizabeth and Alfred L. Reed.

Floreine lived most of her life in Nevada. She graduated from Nevada High School where she was a star forward on the basketball team and won the state typing and shorthand championship her senior year.

After high school, Floreine worked as an executive secretary at Farm & Home Savings Association in Nevada. After her marriage in 1934, Floreine and her husband owned and operated Moore Supply Company, a hardware and home improvement store for more than 20 years.

Following her husband's death, she was the secretary for the First United Methodist Church in Nevada. In 1974, Floreine opened and operated Stlyecraft, a women's clothing boutique on East Cherry Street, until 1985. In 2004, she moved to Texas to be near her family. She resided in Bedford, Texas, with her daughter and her daughter's husband until her death.

Floreine served in many leadership roles in the Nevada community. She was actively involved with the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Soroptomist Club, the Business and Professional Women's Club the Order of Eastern Star, and the Vernon County Historical Society. Floreine's passion was her leadership and work for more than 15 years with the First United Methodist Church's annual bazaar benefitting missions.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Sue McCuistion and her husband Charles, Bedford, Texas; two grandchildren, Stephanie Sue Thach and her husband David, and Michael Moore McCuistion; great-grandchild, Madeline Nichole Thach; two nieces, Joan Spohn and Cinda Reed; and three nephews, Randy, Morris, and Mike Reed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Neomi White and Reola King; two brothers, Delbert, and Gerald Reed. Her beloved husband of 35 years, George G. Moore, also preceded her in death in 1969.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 14, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating.

Friends may call now and until noon on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between 7 and 8 p.m.
