Jack Shields, 73, Nevada, died Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Bronaugh, Mo., to Archie Ray Shields and Milbur T. Cocke Shields. He was married April 11, 1964, in Nevada, to Marjorie Hammond, and she survives of the home.

Mr. Shields was born and reared in this area and spent most all of his life here. He graduated from high school in Jasper, Mo. Jack worked for a time for the Cullen Limestone Company, but primarily made his living as a gunsmith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife Marjorie, survivors include two sisters, Karen Russell, Nevada, and Mary Ruth Gilbert, St. Louis; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh.
