CARL JUNCTION, Mo. -- In what has already proved to be a tough American Legion District 2 tournament, the Nevada Red Sox kept their hopes and season alive Friday with an 8-2 victory over Miller.

Ron Johnson pitched five innings to earn the victory and Dusty Schlicting finished out the contest. Ross Wolfe and Kohlten Wilson led an offense that showed some of its greatest highs of the year, including some of the best baserunning head coach Jim Rayburn has seen thus far. "They ran the bases really well," Rayburn said.

That win came on the heels of the Red Sox toughest game of the tournament thus far in which they fell to top-seeded Cassville by a final score of 11-1. "We just couldn't hit a baseball," Rayburn said.

The Red Sox are now 1-1 in the tournament and are scheduled to face either McDonald County or Webb City in another elimination game at 3:30 p.m. today, at Carl Junction High School.
