Ruby Loraine Deming, 76, Nevada, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Richards, Mo., to Elmer Ross Rowland and Alvaretta Bell Richmond Rowland. She was married Sept. 7, 1952, in Nevada, to Robert J. Deming and he preceded her in death June 29, 2000.

Mrs. Deming was born and raised in Vernon County and spent most all of her life here. She worked for many years at the Nevada State Hospital, retiring in July of 1986. She was a member of the Nevada First Christian Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and the BPO Does Lodge No. 564 in Nevada. She loved playing bingo.

Survivors include one son, Eddie Deming, Nevada; three daughters, Carol Casey and her husband, Jack, Groton, Conn., Amy Oliver and her husband, Larry, Claremore, Okla., and Bobbie Wood, and her husband, Clyde, Rich Hill, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Rowland, Richards, Mo., and Ronald Rowland; three sisters, Lois Reeder, Uniontown, Kan., Jo Erwin and Louise Rowland, both of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and one grandchild, Colby Deming.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with pastor Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, between 7 and 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made in her memory to either the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association, in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
