Area high school graduates enroll at Cottey College

Cottey College is an independent, two-year, liberal arts college for women located in Nevada, Mo. The College's residential student capacity is 350, and the typical student body is composed of young women from 40 states and 14 countries. After completing two years of their education at Cottey they transfer to colleges and universities across the world.

Cottey is owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization of approximately 250,000 members. Cottey is the only nonsectarian college in the nation owned and supported by women for women.

Several area high school graduates were recently accepted for fall admission to Cottey College. They include:

Tessa Cadle, daughter of Brenda and Joe Cadle of Nevada, graduated from Nevada High School, and plans to major in nursing.

In high school, Tessa was active in show choir, book club, "Wizard of OZ" musical, A+ tutoring, and she was a Tiger Pride Leader.

Allison Campbell, daughter of Margie and Greg Campbell of Richards, graduated from Nevada High School, and plans to major in forensic science.

In high school, Allison was active in band, choir, and Spanish Club.

Josephine Foley, daughter of Jana and Dwight Foley of El Dorado Springs, Mo., graduated from Nevada High School, and plans to major in equestrian science/animal science.

In high school, Josephine was active in FFA, Spanish club, book club, band, plays, honor roll, and National Honor Society. She also received the following honors and awards: FFA Greenhand Degree, FFA Chapter Degree, A honor roll, academic letters, and band letter.

Katherine Kerbs, daughter of Nancy and Larry Kerbs of Nevada, graduated from Bronaugh High School, and plans to major in history and political science.

In high school, Katherine was active in FCCLA, FBLA, National Honor Society, band leader, drum major, cheerleading, 4-H, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she was senior class vice president. She also received the following honors and awards: salutatorian, Missouri Association of Rural Education Outstanding Secondary Student of 2010, Ted Ireland Music Award, A honor roll, I Dare.

Vena Odinga, daughter of Jacqueline Odinga of Nevada, graduated from Nevada High School, and plans to major in nursing.

In high school, Vena was active in FBLA, Skills USA, FTA, drama club, yearbook, and French club. She also received the following honors and awards: honor roll, senior superlative.
