A work in progress

Friday, September 10, 2010

Workers for Nowak Construction pack scaffolding and string up caution tape on Thursday in preparation for removing the remaining roof from the rear of the building at 104 East Cherry St. The crew hopes to have the roof off and the south wall of the structure down sometime today. Building owner Andrew McNair has his art gallery on the first floor of the building and lives on the second floor. He said he began the project because, "I figured it should come down rather than fall down." Workers didn't know how long the job would take because of the uncertain nature of bringing down part of such an old structure. The rear wall is to be rebuilt with two windows and a door on the south side of the building, forming a courtyard.
