For two and a half years, since February 2008, a group of Missouri and Kansas residents have been working together to create a management plan for the Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area. The plan was submitted to the National Park Service for approval in June, 2009 and was approved last month when it was signed Aug. 25, by Thomas L. Strickland, assistant secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, Department of the Interior.
