Lonnie Loren Engle, 68, Liberal, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Mulberry, Kan., to John Jacob Engle and Ruby Gaynell Collins Engle. He married Joan D. Rackley on April 2, 1961, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Lonnie was a 1960 graduate of Liberal High School. He lived in Hume, Mo., for a number of years and then moved to Liberal, where he has resided for the past 32 years. He worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 30 years, until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers No. 763, Pittsburg, Kan. Lonnie was a Hume 4-H bowling leader for five years. He loved to call bingo for senior citizens. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and an avid supporter of the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin, Mo. He loved dancing and country music and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Lonnie was a member of the Asbury Baptist Church in Asbury, Mo.

Survivors in addition to his wife Joan, include two sons, Lonnie Joe Engle and his wife, Joyce, Liberal, and Jonie Ray Engle and his wife, Tammy, Liberal; one daughter, Lona Warren, Belton, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Joseph, Ashley, Lindsey, Angela, Randall, Jason, Cassie, Jackson, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Gabriel; and one brother, Charles Engle, Pasadena, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronnie, and five brothers, Paul, Junior, Bill, Jack, and Marvin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Charles Brown, Jim Brown, and the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 12-2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
