YAT concert ticket blitz slated for Friday

Saturday, October 23, 2010

In preparation for the upcoming Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park concert, the Youth Activities Team is hosting a ticket blitz Friday.

The YAT will be set up in front of the Sonic Drive-In, 1708 S. National Ave., from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 29 selling tickets to the Luke Bryan concert, scheduled for Nov. 13 at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds.

With the purchase of a $26 ticket for the concert, local residents will receive a free T-shirt and beverage from Sonic Drive-In, according to YAT Co-convener Clayton Tatro. In addition, those who purchase a ticket will also have their name entered into a drawing for a meet Bryan and event sponsor Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Adam LaRoche, as well as a drawing to win baseballs and other merchandise autographed by LaRoche.

Tatro said the purpose of the event is to promote ticket sales in the local communities before concentrating on efforts in larger markets.

"We're really pushing tickets sales locally before we do some things in some larger media markets," Tatro said. "We want to make sure all the local people that want tickets have that opportunity."

Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park will begin with a rodeo exhibition at 9 a.m., followed by an Afternoon Music Jamboree featuring 312th U.S. Army Band's Rock Ensemble "Super Hipnotic," The Austin Mountain Snake Band and Treiber and Robinson. Admission to the rodeo and Afternoon Music Jamboree are free.

Also at the event will be the Buck Commander Crew (www.buckcommander.com) with their Buck Commander mobile unit to celebrate the debut of hunting season. LaRoche is a co-owner of Buck Commander, along with Willie Robertson and Major League Baseball players Chipper Jones, Ryan Langerhans, Tom Martin and Matt Duff. Airings of "The Buck Commander Show" can be seen nationally on the Outdoor Channel.
