Jesse E. Murray Sr., 71, resident of the Strang, Okla., area, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo. His parents, Ray Murray and Helen (Cook) Murray, preceded him in death.

Jesse attended school in Liberal, Mo., and spent most of his adult life in Nevada, Mo., working as a supervisor at the 3M Company until his retirement in 1999.

Jesse and Betty Parman were united in marriage on Aug. 27, 1991, and were currently living near Strang, Okla.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on old tractors and traveling. He was a member of the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship and the Eagles lodge at Nevada.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Betty; children, Jesse Murray Jr. and his wife, Loretta, of Milo, Mo., Tony Randall Murray of Glenham, S.D., Jerrett Dean Murray and his wife, Devon, of Claremore, Okla., Shelly June Smith of Chanute, Kan., Ronald Travis Murray and his wife, Carmen, of Burlison, Tenn., Patricia and Albert Raleigh of Chelsea, Okla.; his five brothers, Jim Byram, Dave Byram, Hal Byram, Carl Byram and John Byram; two sisters, Helen Wolfe and Rose Mary Rice; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many friends and fishing buddies.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Spavinaw Hills House of Worship at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Tobe and Doris Sperry officiating. Graveside committal services will follow at 3 p.m., in the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral home.
