Howard "LeRoy" Keith, 68, Walker, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at his home. He was born on Oct. 25, 1942, in Stockton, Mo., to Finis Charles Keith and Halene Louise Scholler Keith. He married Sylvia M. Lafferty in Miami, Okla., on Aug. 14, 1979, and she survives of the home.

LeRoy was raised in Foster, Mo., and attended school in Foster and Rich Hill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era in an engineer battalion helping to build roads. LeRoy spent more than 40 years as a self-employed truck driver until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Nevada Eagles Lodge.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Sylvia, include seven children, Vera Conwell and her husband, Greg, Walker, Mo., Nadine Helfer and her husband, Wayne, Butler, Mo., Roxy Sage and her husband, Kevin, Archie, Mo., Tim Whitworth, Nevada, Mo., Daniel Whitworth and his wife, Christy, Moundville, Mo., Melissa Vandenburg and her husband, David, St. Louis, Mo., and Lisa Julian and her husband, Caleb, Nevada; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Keith, Lowry City, Nev., Erbin Keith, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Fred Bishop, Nevada, James Bishop, Joplin, Mo., and Kenneth Bishop, Woodburn, Ore.; sisters, Freida Burrows, Muskogee, Okla., and Nancy Dirks, Alba, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Keith; and one sister, Mary Bishop.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Chad Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Foster, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
