Ethel Pauline Sewell, 89, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, at her daughter's home in Lowry City, Mo. She was born on July 3, 1921, in Nevada, to James Ray Flagor and Mabel Claire McGee Flagor. She was married to Arthur L. Sewell on Sept. 3, 1939, in El Dorado Springs, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1999, following 60 years of marriage.

Pauline was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1939. She worked for the Nevada City Hospital as director of Dietary from 1955 and retired in 1986. During this time, she helped start the Nevada Meals on Wheels program. She and her husband owned and operated A&P Bait Shop from 1976 to 2003 until her health forced her to retire. Pauline was a member of the Church of God Holiness, Deerfield, Mo. She was a volunteer, singing specials at church services at Moore-Few Nursing Home and at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center. She loved to sing Doxology before meals at the Senior Center which she did for many years. She was on the Residence Council for Chapman Estates and a volunteer of Oats, Inc. She was the official bus greeter on Grand Street, waving at students on school buses everyday the weather permitted.

Survivors include her children, Carol Strickland and her husband, John, Lowry City, Mo., Arthur "Sonny" Sewell and his wife, Linda, Nevada, Mo., Danny Sewell and his wife Regina, Roscoe, Mo., Linda Chesnut and her husband, Leon, Nevada, Mo., Kenneth Sewell and his wife, Deborah, Nevada, Mo., and Rob Sewell and his wife, Twila, Nevada, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several others that have made their home with Art and Pauline throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four grandchildren; and one brother, Charley Flagor.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. William Smith and the Rev. Rex Scholes officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the funeral home.
