Patrol reports fewest Christmas travel fatalities in state since 1978

Just two traffic fatalities were reported during the Missouri State Highway Patrol's counting period for Christmas 2010 -- the lowest number of fatalities in the 78-hour counting period used by the law enforcement agency in since the patrol began keeping such statistics in 1978. During two years, 1996 and 2002, there were only one and two fatalities, respectively. However, those counting periods totaled only 30 hours.
