Tommy Tim Pike Sr., 71, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Freeman West Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following an illness of several weeks. He was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Nevada, to Everett Pike and Berniece Scantlin Pike.

Tommy was born and raised in Nevada, but spent much of his adult life in various locales. He made his living in a variety of pursuits, including tree service and mechanics. He has lived in Nevada for the past 10 years. He had a passion for auto racing and shared that passion with his family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Tom Pike Jr., Jeff Hendrix and Jay Pike, all of Nevada; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Standlee Pike and Jimmy Pike, both of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and two sisters, Betty Fern, El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Barbara Hume, Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada with Ray Dean Scism officiating. Interment of cremains will be held at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., at a later date. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
