Man faces five drug-related charges

A Nevada man faces five drug-related charges in the wake of his Feb. 8 arrest. Officer Mark Burger responded to a call of a subject with drug paraphernalia at a local convenience store, where Burger obtained permission to search Edward Lyman Yahne, 49, of Nevada. According to court documents, a syringe was found as well, and his vehicle was searched.

Inside the vehicle the officer found "two rolled cigarettes containing a green plant material that field tested for marijuana." A "white powdery substance" that tested positive as methamphetamine, rolling papers and a red plastic straw also were recovered from the vehicle, according to court documents.

Yahne was transported to the Vernon County jail where he was asked if he had anything else on his person. After stating that "he did not have anything else" a baggie containing plant material was discovered in Yahne's pant leg. The substance tested positive as marijuana.

Yahne faces one count of felony possession of a controlled substance; methamphetamine, one count of felony of possession of marijuana in jail; one felony count of possession of marijuana, one felony count of use of drug paraphernalia: methamphetamine and one count of the class C felony of use of drug paraphernalia; marijuana. Yahne remains in the Vernon County jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17.

Yahne has been found guilty of felony drug charges in Kansas and Oklahoma and "would be classified as a Persistent Offender and subject to Enhancement of Punishment two classes," according to court documents. It is not known if Yahne has an attorney at this time.
