Special meeting on street program tonight

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

The Nevada City Council will hold a special meeting at 7 tonight in the council chambers, in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St., to primarily discuss the 2011 street construction program.

They will be considering bids for crack sealant for the streets and two resolutions related to the street sales tax projects.

First, Resolution No. 1312, confirming the streets to be worked on this summer, and second, Resolution No. 1313, approving the use of street sales tax money for preventive maintenance of city streets.

And, following a change in policy the council will be considering two requests for the issuance of proclamations: Autism Awareness Month and a joint proclamation with Vernon County for Crime Victims Week.

In the past this has always been done informally and at the mayor's discretion. With this change requests for proclamations must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the requested date, so the request can go before the entire council. Because of the schedule of council meetings, in some circumstances the request would need to be made even earlier.
