Calling all travelers! Readers of school age will travel the globe this summer as the Nevada Public Library presents "One World, Many Stories" during their summer reading program. Children will explore places from Australia to Russia through stories, crafts, art and food. The 2011 Summer Reading Program is open and free to all Vernon County young people who have finished kindergarten. The program runs through sixth grade.

The opening performance kick off will be held on Wednesday, June at at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center at 1 p.m. Youngsters are in for a travel treat when they visit Peru-Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands with Randy Nadler. Randy has visited some of the most exciting destinations in the world and he is bringing his travel experiences to the children of Nevada and Vernon County. Randy has years of experience in presenting his travels to children of all ages and keeps all completely engaged.

For his presentation in Nevada, the children will explore the Otavalo Indians of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, giant tortoises, all the exotic colorful animals of the region, the rugged scenery of Machu Picchu, the lost city, the citadel fortress created by the Incas and the world's highest volcano.

Each week thereafter, the children will meet in the Community Center on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Under the direction of Sarah Swearingen and her team, the children will explore exciting new worlds and cultures through books, crafts, presentations, and treats.

Children may begin signing up on Monday, May 16, at the Nevada Public Library. At that time, the children will set their reading goals.

Each week that they meet their goal, they will receive a prize. If they meet all their reading goals, their name goes into a drawing for the grand prize: Four free tickets to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.
