Cheryl Kenney story goes national again

Thursday, May 26, 2011

True to his word, Joshua Darnell is not resting and he keeps making people aware of the fact that his mother, Cheryl Ann Kenney, went missing from a convenience store in Nevada, Mo., 20 years ago.

Darnell has been very active in pressing for the resolution of the case and on Thursday, May 26, will be featured on the radio program, "True Facts with Jon Leiberman." Leiberman spent many years as an investigator with the successful TV show "America's Most Wanted", in which the case was profiled several years ago. Leiberman has created a radio show that features missing person cases. Leiberman said the role of his show is "to help the families and the missing."

Leiberman said that after talking with Darnell he believed that someone knows something about the case and that "my job as a radio host is to encourage them to come forward."

Leiberman has already broadcast 15 shows and said that he chose to do the Kenney story because usually, parents are searching for a missing family member, but the fact that "the kids are searching -- that was what was unique -- you have a son and a daughter searching for justice for their mother" was what made him decide to profile the Kenney story. Leiberman said, "Josh came across as a very passionate person. To me, that's enough to validate his appearance on my show." The edited interview will run about 20 minutes, according to Leiberman.

Cheryl Ann Kenney, a Caucasian female, was 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed 117 pounds when she disappeared. Kenney's hair was blonde and her eyes green and she has a unique tooth pattern. She was last seen wearing a blue pullover top, a jacket, blue jeans and L.A. Gear sneakers. The night she disappeared, Kenney clocked out of work at 10 p.m., but she never returned home and hasn't been heard from since. The store was locked and her car was found abandoned in the store parking lot.

Kenney would now be 50 years old. There are no dental records available, but DNA is on file. The Nevada Police Department has recently reopened the case and along with the Vernon County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol urge anyone with information on the disappearance of Cheryl Ann Kenney to contact the Nevada Police Department at (417) 448-2710 or contact the TIPS hotline at (417) 448-5117.

Leiberman's interview with Darnell will be broadcast on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m.m Eastern Time on cyberstationusa.com.

The show can also be accessed at http://www.cyberstationlive.com/JonLeiberman. Leiberman said that his show already as the support of the law enforcement community and any leads that come in will be forwarded to the proper agency.
