Kansas man dies in June 16 motorcycle crash near Sheldon

A 73-year-old Mary-ville, Kan., man was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on U.S. 71 Highway, 3 miles north of Sheldon.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Irvil D. West was headed south on a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the motorcycle traveled off the east side of the roadway, crossed the median and overturned, at 1:40 p.m., June 16.

West was pronounced dead at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, later that afternoon.

This is the 46th fatality investigated by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
