Gene and Bonnie Patton -- 65 years

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Gene and Bonnie Patton, of rural Hume, Mo., observed their 65th wedding anniversary July 14, 2011. The Pattons were married in Lebanon, Mo., at West Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Henry Long, Gene's uncle, officiating. Gene and Bonnie will celebrate later this summer with their children and grandchildren.

The couple have two children, Gary Patton and wife Twyla, of Stockton, Mo., and a daughter, Donieta Davis and husband Jerry, of Hume. They were blessed with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Gene and Bonnie note that their marriage has been based on strong Christian faith, and they are members of the West Liberty United Methodist Church in rural Kansas.

When asked the secret of a long, happy marriage, the Pattons agreed -- faith, patience and enduring love.
