Mary Etta Vandenburg

Mary Etta Vandenburg, 93, of Ash Grove, Mo., passed away Aug. 4, 2011, in the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility.

She was born March 1, 1918, in Walker, Vernon County, Mo., to Burt Nelson and Freddie Klumpp Leer.

Mary was married to Herman Joseph Vandenburg on May 25, 1940. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, making butter and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Mary is survived by one son, Herman Eugene Vandenburg of Nevada; two brothers, Eugene Leer and wife, Pat, of Kidder, Mo., and Roy Leer and wife, Marge, of Ash Grove; two sisters, Sadie Cartwright of Salinas, Calif., and Ella Dupus and husband, Do, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; very special niece, Linda McCauley and husband, Gary, of Nevada; and many other nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be today, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m., in Moore Cemetery, south of Nevada, with Pam Pretti and Roy Wayne Leer officiating under direction of Birch Funeral Home of Ash Grove.
