Ruby Joan Singmaster, 75, Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kan. She was born on Aug. 25, 1935, at Pleasanton, Kan., the daughter of Hughie U. and Margaret E. Norbury Black. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and worked at the Bank of Pleasanton for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Community Christian Church and was involved in the Women's Bible Study. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred Black. She is survived by her son, Jeff Graves of Lake Wales, Fla.; daughter, Jacki Long of Lansing, Kan.; a sister, Carolyn Black of Mound City, Kan.; grandson, Nick Long and wife, Ashley; granddaughter, Ashley Whelpeley and husband, Kyle, and son Brody; and nieces, Carla Slaughter and Cathy Hoover.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Community Christian Church in Fort Scott, Kan. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. Friends may call all day Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kan. The family suggests contributions to the Community Christian Church in care of Coffel-Schneider, P.O.
