Mary Fern Allmer, 89, Nevada, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born July 12, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., to Joseph George McNamara Sr. and Gertrude Dodd McNamara.

Mary was raised in Kansas City, Mo., graduating from St. Aloysius High School there. She worked at a bank for many years and later in the billing department at Woolfe Brothers Department Store in Kansas City. She helped set-up and worked at the first Nevada Wal-Mart Store. She has lived in Nevada since 1975.

Survivors include one daughter, Trudy Young and her husband, Troy, Nevada; three grandchildren, Matt Holt, Monett, Mo., Amanda Prine and Joe Young, both of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Prine and Cayden Holt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Katherine Helm; and one brother, Joseph George McNamara Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Tom Albers officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between 9 and 10 a.m., prior to the funeral service.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to either the American Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
