Tigers softball team tops Seneca, now 7-0
SENECA -- The Nevada High School softball team used a four-run fourth inning to pull ahead for good in a 7-4 win over Seneca on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 7-0 on the season.
Nevada junior Christian Novak earned the win on the mound. She struck out nine, walked none and allowed five hits.
Seneca actually led twice during the game. The Indians scored twice in the first on two hits and an error.
Nevada got on the board in the third. The Tigers scored twice, taking advantage of a walk and two errors. Tiffani Long and Tori Dahmer both crossed the plate in the inning and the game was tied at two. Seneca answered back with two runs in the bottom half, as Bailey Shelton hit a two-run home run. The blast gave the Indians a 4-2 lead.
The Tigers responded with four runs on four hits in the top of the fourth. Nikki O'Bryan and Mackenzie Pritchett both singled and Olivia Culbertson walked. Long then hit an RBI single.
After an out, Ashley Shumaker came up with the bases loaded. Shumaker then cleared the bases with a three-run double. The runs put Nevada up 6-4.
Casey Baker hit an RBI double in the sixth, scoring Shumaker to make it 7-4.
Novak did not allow a hit after the third inning in the win.
Nevada travels to Lamar tonight.
