MARSHFIELD -- The Nevada High School girls golf team was shorthanded, but still finished ninth at the Marshfield Tournament on Monday.

Senior Morgan Turner led the Tigers with a 14th place finish at the invite. Turner shot a 93.

"Her game is improving with each tournament she plays in," NHS Coach Brian Leonard said.

Freshman Hannah Householder finished 23rd overall with her score of 99. Senior Myra Ornelas and freshman Maddie Johnson both finished with identical scores of 118.

NHS junior Emmaly Ellis had to withdraw from the tourney due to an injury.

"Emmaly pulled a muscle in her right shoulder area," Leonard said. "It's possibly a rotator cuff injury or a strained muscle. She'll be out for the rest of this week. We'll know more after she visits the doctor."

Mount Vernon won the team title with a score of 349. Mount Vernon's Ashley Childers was the individual champion with a score of 76.

Marshfield will be the location of the district tournament on Sept. 28. On Monday, the team finished with a team score of 428 without Ellis.

Leonard said the Tigers will need to get the team score down below 375 to be able to compete for the district title again.
