Eloise "Betty" Pokorny

Eloise "Betty" Pokorny, 93, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Christian Health Care in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Jan. 27, 1918, in Nevada, to Charles Squires Bound and Leona Elliott Bound. She married Richard "Dell" Pokorny on Jan. 27, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., and he preceded her in death.

Betty was born and raised in Nevada and spent her whole life here. She operated Betty's Photo Service for 30 years. Betty was an avid amateur radio operator. She enjoyed arts and crafts.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph Pokorny, of the home, Carl Pokorny, of the home, Terry Pokorny, Nevada, and Frank Pokorny, Independence, Mo. She was preceded in death by six siblings.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nevada, with the Rev. Johannes Brann officiating. Interment will follow in Deepwood Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until 10 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her memory to the American Kidney Foundation or the Trinity Lutheran Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
