WEBB CITY -- The Nevada High School volleyball team got off to a great start.

But Webb City finished strong.

The host Cardinals defeated the Tigers 23-25, 25-15, 25-15 on Thursday night.

"We started out very aggressive and full of energy," Nevada Coach Ashley Thoreson said. "They were having fun and had good ball control, forcing Webb City to make the errors. Going into the second game we started out slow and just couldn't catch up. Webb City had a great server that in both the second and third sets helped them get several points against us in a row, and we had a hard time finding our momentum after that."

Regan Kannady had seven kills and Sharla Quick added three for the Tigers.

Morgan McNeley had 11 digs, Marisa Hughes had 10 digs and Quick added six.

Cassidy Lowery had nine assists for the Tigers.

Nevada will compete at the Pittsburg Tournament today.

"We are looking forward to our tournament this weekend, so that we can get more comfortable with our lineup and hopefully get some wins to add to our record," Thoreson said.

In JV action, Nevada defeated Webb City 25-11, 25-20.

Kelsey McCall had 12 assists and Megan Mason had 11 digs.

The NHS freshman won 25-13, 23-25, 25-12.
