U.S. 71 access at Milo to close today

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

The at-grade crossing at the intersection of U.S. 71 Highway and Main Street in Milo will close permanently today, according to Missouri Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Edwards. The intersection is being closed to allow work on the outer road connecting Main Street with the new E Highway interchange. Contractors expect to have the outer road finished by Tuesday, Oct. 4, at which time motorists can use it to access Stockade Road north of Milo and get onto U.S. 71 Highway from there. There will not be formal detour, according to Edwards. All traffic on the east side of U.S. 71 will have to use Unity Road to the south and Stockade Road to the north until the work on the outer road is completed. Access to Unity Road is from County Road 1930 and motorists must use County Road 1900 to get to Stockade Road until work is completed.
