His daughter was born March 2, 2003. He died when Mallory was seven months old. Clay said his wife died in 2007 of broken heart. "She never moved on."
Teresa Stark said that a week before Christopher was killed his team was disarming an explosive device that did not explode properly and did not injure anyone. When she talked to him afterwards he told her, "Mom I'm EOD. Bombs are what I do. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing." Stark, who has only been in Nevada for the last three years, said that she wanted to tell the community how much the support they have given her has meant to her.

'"I'm not a veteran and don't have any veterans in my family," Nevada Mayor Brian Leonard said. "Looking at these pictures -- this brings it home to Nevada, Mo."
