Barney W. Kohlenberger, 80, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Fort Scott Manor. He was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Dupo, Ill., the son of Henry and Grace Kohlenberger. He worked for the Steel Union Workers of St. Louis, Mo. His wife, Alma Frances Kohlenberger, preceded him in death in 1991. In his earlier years he greatly enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors.

Survivors include one stepson; one stepdaughter; 31 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two stepdaughters.

The Rev. Mark Stetler will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 6, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, Kan. Private burial will take place at a later date in the Valhalla Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Belleville, Ill. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Cheney Witt Chapel.
