Nevada athletes named academic all-state

The Nevada High School softball team had five athletes named to the 2011-12 Academic All-State team.

Nikki O'Bryan, Christian Novak, and Tori Dahmer were first team selections and Olivia Culbertson and MacKenzie Pritchett were second team picks.

The NHS volleyball team had five girls recognized. Bailey Harbit, Cassidy Lowery, Marisa Hughes, Regan Kannady and Morgan McNeley were academic all-state.

The criteria for the team was a cumulative 3.6 GPG after the first semester for any athlete who competed in 75 percent of a team's varsity matches.
