The Vernon County Youth Task Force, Youth Enrichment Services and the Vernon County schools are hosting a town hall meeting on Monday, April 9, that will focus on the issue of underage drinking.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., in the Nevada High School auditorium. Carol Branham will act as moderator as a panel of community leaders and a panel of students discuss the topic.

The newest addition to the VCYTF, known as SHOUT, and their "Sticker Shock Project," which targets adults that purchase alcohol for minors also will be on the agenda.

Community leaders participating in the event are Nevada Police Chief Graham Burnley, Nevada R-5 School District Superintendent Dr. David R. Stephens and James R. Bickel, presiding judge of the 28th Judicial Circuit of Missouri.

The student panel will be composed of students from the Nevada, Bronaugh, Sheldon and Northeast Vernon County schools.

The event is open to the public, and a question and answer session will follow the discussion.
