Violet Louise Smith

Violet Louise Smith, 86, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born May 3, 1925, in Trenton, Mo., to Hollie Renfro and Mary Gott Renfro. She was married May 6, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Cecil Leroy Smith and he preceded her in death May 17, 2000.

Mrs. Smith was born in Trenton, Mo., but grew up in Nevada and spent most of her life here. She was a homemaker and an avid quilter. She and her husband loved to vacation and go camping.

Survivors include one son, Mike Smith, Nevada; two daughters, Sandy Stephens, Independence, Mo., and Linda Lindsay, Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Cecil, she was preceded in death by her parents; and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Lawrence Cripps officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
