Suspect arrested trying to pawn purloined tools

Donn R. Mead, 45, of Nevada, is facing felony charges of burglary and theft in connection with a burglary that occurred in the 1000 block of South Cedar.

According to a press release from the Nevada Police Department, during the morning hours of April 13, police were notified by the manager of Cooper's Pawn Shop, on the east side of the Nevada Square that a man was in the store trying to sell reported stolen property.

Officers responded and were able to recover the stolen property -- "several hundred dollars worth of carpentry tools," the press release said, moments after the discovery the residential burglary on Cedar Street.

Mead was arrested without further incident and transported to the Vernon County Jail.

Mead was charged with one count of the class C felony of second degree burglary and one count of theft, a class C felony. A $15,000 bond was set.

According to online case information, Mead was arraigned Monday and a pretrial conference was set for April 23.
