Kevin Richard Clem

Kevin Richard Clem, 55, of Nevada, Mo., passed away at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo., on April 12, 2012. Kevin was cremated and a memorial service for friends and family will be scheduled at a later date. Cards and commemorative gifts may be sent to the family at their home.

Kevin was born on Feb. 10, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Robert G. and Marjorie Ann (Waldorf) Clem. His grandparents were Ross and Ethel Clem of Iowa City, Iowa, and Hugo and Lucy Waldorf of Peru, Ill. Kevin graduated from West High School in Iowa City in 1975 and attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the University of Iowa before beginning a 33-year career with BNSF Railway.

Kevin married Kathleen (Kathy) Thomsen in 1988 and was stepfather to Kathy's daughters, Jennifer and Cassandra (Casey).

Kevin "Chops" is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, of Nevada, Mo.; his daughters, Jennifer and her husband, Mark Copeland, in Bainbridge, Ohio, and Casey and her husband, Eric Danielson, and two grandchildren, Emmett Ross and Clara Elaine, in Iola, Wisc.; his mother, Marjorie Ann Clem in Iowa City; his aunt, Minnie Waldorf in Peru, Ill.; and his cousins James and Ann Waldorf and children in Bloomington, Ill., and David and Peggy Waldorf and children of Peru, Ill.

Kevin is also survived by Kathy's mother, Floretta (Ty) Thomsen in Lincoln, Neb.; Kathy's brother, Tim Thomsen and his wife, Marge, and children in LaVeta, Colo.; and her sisters, Sue Baumhover and her husband, Michael, children, and grandchildren, and Mary Slupikowski in Crystal Lake, Ill., and her children and grandchildren.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; his uncle, Richard Waldorf; his cousin, Susie Waldorf Rosoff, and her son, David Rosoff; his brother-in-law, James Slupikowski; and his beloved father-in-law, Delynn "Hans" Thomsen.
