Northeast Vernon County High School class of 2012 Valedictorian Spencer Blaine Hoagland addresses her classmates and a packed gymnasium during the graduation ceremony held Saturday at the NEVC campus in Walker Mo. Hoagland told the crowd that even though she stood there "in a ridiculous hat, in the hottest gym on the planet" that her class was "one of the most fun to ever graduate" from NEVC. Hoagland also said, "We leave here with bright eyes and high hopes to face the future. You can choose to be successful," she said, but "we have to accept the fact that we can't change everything." Hoagland also was a class officer and accumulated more than $30,000 in scholarships.

Tanner Chadwick Duncan carries four sunflowers -- the Northeast Vernon County class of 2012 class flowers -- to people in the audience who were important to him on graduation day. Duncan was one of 21 NEVC graduates to present a blossom of gratitude to someone during the ceremony.
