Mary Ann Hanson, 79, Evansville, Ind., formerly of Nevada, Mo., died Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Parkview Nursing Home in Evansville, following a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Abingdon, Ill., to Frederick Willard Krohn and Cecil Mary Nonamaker Krohn. She was married Dec. 23, 1951, in Abingdon, Ill., to Marlyn Lee Hanson and he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2002.

Mrs. Hanson was born and raised in Abingdon, Ill. She and her husband moved to Nevada in 1976 and spent most of her life here. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary was very active with Boy Scout Troop No. 117 in Nevada. She was an avid gardener and loved to paint and crochet.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Hanson and his wife, Rusty, Rochester, Pa., and Matthew Hanson, Centralia, Ill.; two daughters, Pamela Cox, Evansville, Ind., and Penny Austin and her husband, Barry, Nevada; three grandchildren, Mary Ann Meier, Evansville, Ind., Leesa Austin, Joplin, Mo., Steven Austin, Nevada; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; and two brothers, Bill Krohn and Frank Krohn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Steve Russ officiating. Interment will follow at Click Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 17, between 7 and 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made, in her memory, to either the Boy Scouts of America, or the Alzheimer's Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
