Poppy Days recognized

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Nevada Mayor Brian Leonard presents a proclamation to Helen Wood, American Legion Auxilliary president, Shirley White, secretary and Kelsey Wood, declaring May 26-28 as Poppy Days in Nevada.

According to the proclamation: since it began in 1921, Poppy Days has become a familiar tradition in almost every American community, with the distribution of the bright red memorial flower to the public being one of the oldest and most widely recognized programs of the American Legion Auxiliiary.
