Beverly May Griffin

Beverly May Griffin, 73, Sheldon, Mo., died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at her residence. She was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Boonville, Mo., to Raymond B. Burge and Laverne Olive Rick Burge. She was married Feb. 20, 1958, to Harold Smith, and to this union was born her four children. She later married Orville Griffin in July of 1977, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Griffin grew up in Estherville, Iowa, and graduated from Estherville High School in 1957. She moved to the Jerico Springs, Mo., area in 1977, and later moved to Vernon County in 1979. She had resided in Sheldon, Mo., since 2005.

While in Iowa, Beverly worked in a furniture factory for a number of years. She also was employed at the Nevada State Hospital in Nevada for several years. She was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include four children, Becky Morgan and her husband, Monta, Sheldon, Mo., Dee Smith, Estherville, Iowa, Dawn Smith, Heron Lake, Minn., and Kristie Sharp, Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Edmonds and his wife, Karen, Sioux Falls, S.D., and David Edmonds, Council Bluffs, Iowa; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; and one brother, Ralph Burge.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 15, at the Sheldon Baptist Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. Jarod Lamb officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
